Harm Reduction Series – Leveraging rHGH to Protect your Brain from Damage caused by AAS Abuse
Compound Selection and its impact on Cognitive Function Fundamentals 101
The impact that AAS use has on our Brains is at the same time one of the most interesting and least understood aspects of our lifestyle.
I do not believe that today we have all the answers here
Indeed I have far more questions than I have answers, however here are a few key points for your consideration.
Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) are known to induce profound effects in a variety of areas in the CNS
A large number of studies have reported significant effects of AASs on CNS-related behaviors, such as aggression, anxiety, depression, and impaired cognitive functions (Su et al. 1993, Steensland et al. 2005, Hallberg 2011).
We know that very low levels of Testosterone are correlated with impaired cognitive function in Humans, and that in Animals Models at least, up to certain threshold that Testosterone has the capacity to improve learning and long term memory and can be considered cognitive protective, I am of zero doubt that at abusive levels of Testosterone this cognitive protective effect overridden by negative consequence.
When we consider other AAS like Nandrolone
The use of Nandrolone ( by itself without a Testosterone base ) has been shown in Animals Models to negatively impact learning and memory within certain parameters (Magnusson et al. 2009).
We also know that by combining GH with Nandrolone we might be able to mitigate some of these effects in much the same way that GH has been shown to have positive outcomes against opioid-induced apoptosis in hippocampal cells (Svensson et al. 2008).
So, short version..
No one has all the answers today, I 100 percent agree
I have far more questions than I do answers
However IMO
Testosterone and GH have the potential to improve Learning and Memory at least up to a certain threshold of abuse where IMO the inverted J curve inevitably presents itself
1, What are those levels in Humans ?
That’s a great question, dont know…
2, If you are going to use Nandrolone only, sans Testosterone yes I agree its an option sure
Just do not fall for the propaganda from the “Hair Safe Crowd”… that will tell you Nandrolone has ” no side effects at any dose” … go fuck yourself is all I have to say to that crowd today I have given up arguing with those fools.. waste of space..
But if you are going to use Nandrolone only AND you are intelligent to understand that there may well be serious issues here then one of things that you can do to protect your Brain from its Toxic effects without the Protective effects of Testosterone and Estrogen might be to use GH with it.
3, We are going to get into Catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT ) soon
COMT is one of several enzymes that degrade catecholamines (such as dopamine, epinephrine, and norepinephrine), catecholestrogens, and various drugs and substances having a catechol structure. In humans, catechol-O-methyltransferase protein is encoded by the COMT gene.
For now, as a simple takeaway just make sure you are at least getting enough Magnesium in your intake, IMO for enhanced Men that is 800mg a day.
As always, more to follow
